Day 33 = Running + My Neighborhood

Beautiful night tonight for a run/walk in the neighborhood. My neighborhood has sidewalks and established trees and manicured lawns and schools and playgrounds and deer and other friendly walkers. And a shaved ice stand that gives me shaved ice when I walk up and beg for it on a hot day, and by beg for it, I mean look like I'm about to pass out. Sometimes I bring a couple of dollars with me and buy lottery tickets at the corner store. Sometimes I run across Mopac to the central part of Austin and run by some other scenery.

I have a lot of routes. I know how far 3 miles is from my driveway and so I might have a little 5k at my house for my marathon group (you know, as a social activity). Sometimes I start out on a run or a walk and I normally have no idea where I'll end up but oftentimes I find myself running that 3-mile route. I can pretty much do it in my sleep by now. There's a church on this route and a couple of nights a week I can hear people playing bagpipes in there.

When I bought my house, it was all about investing in location. I was right.
